What Is Gerund ?
Gerund are form by adding "ing" with verb and it is
equivalent of noun.Lets follow a simple structure.Verb+ing+noun
I dislike smoking.
sleeping pill tells upon.
Working condition is not congenial at all here.
Spare of use
As gerund is equivalent of noun so,it can work as
subject, object, complement.These verb which have not noun form, if we want to
use these verbs as noun then we use these as gerund.
Swimming is a good exercise. (Subject)
I like swimming. (Object)
My favourite activity is reading. (Complement)
In according to Gerund its may have its own object and modifier.Lets see
some examples.
Reading French is easier than writing it.
I like reading novel.
I don't like swimming in the pond.
Running in the sun is prohibited.
Another special rules to recognizing gerund,Determiner+ing form.Some
example has given below.
Determiner can be add with ing form.But if add article it can't
take object direct. so,"the"is used prior to the object.
I don't like his such arguing.
